Though the title lost to Elden Ring for the prestigious Game of the Year award, it continues to wow with a significant update to the base game. Notably, GOG is owned by CD Projekt Red, the developers of Witcher 3, giving them leeway to do with the game what they will. Also, the version allows for modding tools, expanding a player’s possibilities in-game. For one, the PC version does not cap the game’s framerate to only 30fps. Of course, there are different reasons to own a PC copy, even if you already have a console copy. However, a friend who doesn’t want the free copy can gift it to other players. That is, if you don’t own the game yet, you can’t claim the free copy. Unfortunately, if you’re looking to play the game for the first time ever, you’re out of luck on your own. Likewise, if you own the base game, you’ll get only the base game. If you have all of the DLCs, you will get the complete edition. The edition of the redeemed copy will depend on the edition of the copy that you already own. Afterwards, The Witcher 3 should already be activated on your GOG account. All you need to do is to link up the account (PlayStation Network, Xbox Live, or Steam) that owns the game already.
